HERBS FOR ALL

March 25th, 2008

Spring herb classes are starting early. Maybe because Easter and daylight savings time did too. I am delighted to throw off this very snowy winter and begin to teach. So many people are interested in using and growng herbs. There is hardly anything up in the garden yet but the chives and lovage are just beginning to show themselves. Go to my website www.millcreekherbs.com to read articles on starting an herb garden. Have you taken your Thrive Tonic this morning?

ALL THINGS ROSEMARY

March 4th, 2008

Joy Bossi and I had fun on her radio program, Joy in the Garden. Callers asked about unusual herbs that do well in a greenhouse. I suggested the the kafir lime tree whose leaves are used like bay leaves in Thai cuisine and scented geraniums. Because rosemary is difficult for some people to overwinter here in Utah, we had a long discussion about that. Between the two of us we had useful information to share like the fact that rosemary’s root system is like a tree’s and it needs very occassional deep watering but does well without watering once it is established.
